Yocheved Lifshitz, 85 years old, was one of more than 240 hostages held hostage by Hamas on October 7.

In an interview with the media, Ms. Lifshitz said that while in detention, she once encountered Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar when this man came to check on the situation of hostages in an underground tunnel.

`Sinwar arrived there, about 3-4 days after we were brought here. I asked him if he was ashamed to do this to people who always support peace. He did not answer

Mr. Sinwar is one of the Hamas leaders most wanted by Israel.

Under Sinwar’s leadership, Hamas changed its policy, reducing the use of force to push Israel to participate in indirect negotiations through Egypt, Qatar and the United Nations.

Ms. Lifshitz is a peace activist.

Before that, Ms. Lifshitz said, she was detained by Hamas in a tunnel `like a spider web`.

On October 23, when she was released, she even shook hands with a member of Hamas.

The Israel-Hamas conflict broke out on October 7.

The initial ceasefire was only for 4 days, but was later extended for 2 more days.

Israel and Hamas continue to release hostages

On November 29, the last day of the first extension, Hamas released 16 hostages, while Israel released 30 Palestinian prisoners.

It is unclear whether the two sides will continue to extend the ceasefire or not.

However, the Guardian quoted well-informed sources as saying that Hamas was not satisfied with the proposals that Israel made to extend the ceasefire.

The source said that Hamas also proposed that any discussion on the exchange of Israeli military prisoners, soldiers and officers would first require Israel to stop the blockade of Gaza and withdraw tanks and military equipment.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that the country’s army is ready to resume military operations immediately.

`We are making every effort to repatriate those kidnapped. On the other hand, the Israel Defense Forces in the air, on land and at sea are ready to continue fighting immediately,` Minister Gallant emphasized.
