To increase their chances of being admitted, many students choose to take two or three specialized schools.
Foreign Language Specialized High School
On May 26, nearly 4,500 candidates will take the 10th grade entrance exam at the Foreign Language Specialized School.
With the Foreign Language competency assessment subject, if taking the exam in English, students take the test in the form of multiple choice and essay.
In the previous two years, the English major class had the highest admission score, 28 points in 2017 and 27 points in 2018. The lowest standard score for admission to the school was 24.
High School for Gifted Natural Sciences
Nearly 2,700 candidates taking the entrance exam to the Natural Sciences Specialized School will take three tests including Literature, Mathematics (round 1) and specialized subjects (round 2) on May 26-27.
The admission score for specialized classes is the total score of Math (round 1) with coefficient 1 and specialized subjects with coefficient 2. Subjects must score 4 or higher.
This testing and scoring method has been applied by the School of Natural Sciences for the past three years.
Hanoi University of Education High School for the Gifted
As the school with the highest 10th grade admission rate in Hanoi, this year, for the specialized system alone, on average a candidate has to compete with 14 other students to win admission to the school.
Like three years ago, the school recruited students using three tests: Math, Literature (coefficient 1) and specialized subjects (coefficient 2).
Regarding standard scores, the Literature class got the highest score in the past two years, 28-29 points.
Specialized schools belong to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training
Hanoi – Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Hue, Son Tay and Chu Van An are four schools with specialized classes, using results from the 10th grade entrance exam of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
Although this year Hanoi applies a new exam method for high schools with four compulsory subjects: Math, Literature, English and History, the way to calculate admission scores for specialized schools and classes remains unchanged because it does not take into account
The admission score for specialized schools and classes is the total score of non-specialized subjects: Math, Literature, English (coefficient 1) and specialized subjects (coefficient 2).
